Lance Restum, a Bryant Republican, has formed a committee to explore a potential run for Arkansas’ commissioner of state lands in the 2026 election.
He announced this week he filed paperwork with the secretary of state’s office last week to form an exploratory committee.
Restum, 44, serves as director of community 0utreach for the Arkansas Travelers baseball team, an AA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, and as executive director of the Arkansas Travelers Youth Foundation.
“Family, friends, business owners, and non-profit leaders like myself have approached me and encouraged me to run for Land Commissioner,” he said in a news release. “They want a commonsense business leader who can think outside the box and bring new ways that office can serve the people of Arkansas.”
Land Commissioner Tommy Land, a Republican, has served as the state’s lands commissioner since 2019 and is barred from seeking re-election under the state’s term limits amendment.
The land commissioner’s primary responsibility is to collect delinquent real estate taxes that couldn’t be collected at the county level. The office also has jurisdiction over the state’s navigable waters, submerged lands and mineral leasing on state property.
