Alabama Secretary of State Wes Allen was in Tuscaloosa Thursday to speak at the Tuscaloosa County Republican Party meeting.
Allen spoke to the party about the importance of the upcoming 2024 general election.
Allen praised the state of Alabama and how well the voting system is in the state.
“We’re gonna have strong elections,” Allen said. “We’ve got great probate judges throughout the state that are the chief administrators throughout the county. We’ve got great circuit clerks who handle all the absentee balloting. We’ve got great sheriffs who handle all the custody of the ballots. We’ve got great boards of registrars in all 67 counties who handle the voter registration. So a lot of people, it’s a team effort and it takes a team to make sure we have strong, safe, secure elections in this state.”
Allen also talked about the Alabama voter integrity to ensure the cleanest and most accurate voter registration list for the state.
Tuscaloosa County republican, Charles Brown, talked about how important it is to make sure the voting is clean.
“Well, Wes Allen is going to be speaking tonight and he’s the secretary of state and the secretary of state controls the elections and so its very important we have good fair honest elections and that probably didn’t happen in 2020. I think Alabama was alright but other states were not.”
Allen talked about absentee voting at the meeting as well.
The last day to register to vote for the general election is Oct. 21. You can register to vote, check your polling location or check your voter status right here.
